Car of the Year 2025 Finalist
The CUPRA Terramar, our latest electrified compact SUV, has earned its place as one of the seven finalists for the Car of the Year 2025 Award.
The winner will yet to be announced at the beginning of 2025 but with Terramar’s distinctive design, advanced powertrains and focus on sustainability, the car already represents a new chapter for CUPRA.
Beyond the Shortlist, A New Era
The CUPRA Terramar is our latest entry into Europe’s fastest-growing segment of compact SUVs. It’s a vehicle built to reach new audiences in a new era, with an intimidating yet inspiring design language. The recognition by the Car of the Year jury is part of a pattern: CUPRA has seen similar success with the Formentor (finalist in 2021) and the Born (finalist in 2022). CUPRA’s CEO, Wayne Griffiths, reflected on the milestone:
“The selection of the CUPRA Terramar as finalist for the Car of the Year 2025 acknowledges that CUPRA brand is growing, getting more mature and is more certain in its identity than ever before, without ever compromising on authenticity” He also highlighted, “the CUPRA Terramar pays homage to the emblematic race circuit where CUPRA was born and redefines what SUVs can deliver in terms of emotion, performance and design”.

The CUPRA Terramar introduces a fresh design with sustainability being a core element.
Materials include:
- SEAQUAL® YARN, a textile made entirely from upcycled materials
- Dinamica®, which uses at least 73% recycled polyester
- Leather processed with plant-based tanning methods

Powertrain Options: From Petrol to Hybrid Electric Cars
The CUPRA Terramar offers five powertrain options across three technologies:
- TSI (petrol) for classic performance
- eTSI (mild hybrid) for enhanced efficiency
- eHybrid (plug-in hybrid), offering up to 272PS and an impressive electric-only range of over 100km
CUPRA Terramar America’s Cup Limited Edition
The CUPRA Terramar made its debut in early September during the 37th America's Cup event. With the motto "there's no second", we introduced a limited edition version of the CUPRA Terramar that became the official car for the 37th edition of the competition held in Barcelona.
This vehicle, the CUPRA Terramar America’s Cup Limited Edition, is now available with VZ powertrain options:
- eHybrid (2700kW/272PS) and 2.0 TSI (195kW/265PS) VZ models.
Car of the Year 2025 at the Brussels International Motor Show
The Car of the Year Award is a highly esteemed accolade in the industry. Its winner is determined by sixty jurors from 23 European countries, all of whom are respected automotive journalists. After narrowing the field from 42 candidates, the CUPRA Terramar stands among the final seven.
The winner will be announced to CUPRA and the six other contenders at the Brussels International Motor Show in early 2025.
